January 2026 We submitted “A Latent Dynamical Framework for Real-Time Tracking of Sleep Slow-Wave Activity with Applications in Closed-Loop Neural Stimulation” to IEEE EMBC 2026, presenting a low-latency modeling approach for closed-loop sleep neurostimulation.
November 2025 A provisional patent was filed on Behavior-Based Detection of Suicidality, based on outcomes from the DARPA FREUD project. This work was developed through a collaboration between the University of Minnesota (UMN) and the University of Houston (UH) and focuses on behavior-informed modeling approaches for objective assessment of suicidality risk.
July 2025 We submitted a new preprint, “Hierarchical Stochastic Differential Equation Models for Latent Manifold Learning in Neural Time Series”, proposing a principled latent-state framework for neural manifold discovery. The manuscript is available on arXiv.
April 2025 Our paper “Deviation from Nash Mixed Equilibrium in Repeated Rock–Scissors–Paper Reflects Individual Personality Traits” was published in Scientific Reports. This interdisciplinary study links deviations from game-theoretic optimality to individual personality traits and was conducted in collaboration with Kensuke Arai, Suma Jacob, and Alik S. Widge.
March 2025 Ali Yousefi delivered an invited talk at Rice University (Engineering Minds series) on Behavior-Informed Decoder Models for Closed-Loop Brain Stimulation and Suicidality Risk Detection, highlighting recent advances in computational neuropsychiatry.
Jan 10, 2025 We have opening for multiple PhD students with expertise in neural engineering, signal processing, and statistical machine learning. We are also looking for graduate and PhD students with an interest in wearable design and cloud computing.
December 12, 2024 We submitted our manuscript, Deviation from Nash Mixed Equilibrium in Repeated Rock-Scissors-Paper Reflects Individual Personality Traits, to Scientific Reports. This work is a joint effort from Kensuke Arai (former postdoc at BU and CMU), Suma Jacob (UCLA), and Alik S. Widge (UMN)
November 1, 2024 UH and my team reinitiated our collaboration on FREUD, a DARPA-funded project, through a partnership with UMN and Intheon
